UPDATED January 6, 2009

James Parkway Extension--AWARDED
A contract was awarded in January 2009 to Layton Excavating for a $2.9 million roadway and bridge project connecting the South Campus and Base Campus of the COATC. Follow the project online at OntheBase.com.

Sanitary Sewer Extensions--COMPLETE
The City of Heath, as part of joint OPWC project with the Port Authority, has contracted with Law General Contracting to install city sanitary sewer line extensions to two locations on the South Campus. Sites off of Kaiser Drive will have sanitary sewer service capabilities when this project is completed.

Electric Utility Extensions--UNDERWAY
A second stage of a power loop was completed in 2008 that offers greater reliability for COATC customers. American Electric Power completed the first major electric line extension for the South Campus in April 2006. The 34.5kV, three-phase power is looped from two different circuits with proximity to several different electric substations.

COATC South Campus Upgrades --COMPLETE
Law General Contracting of Newark completed work on the roadway portion of the second stage of infrastructure improvements on the South Campus on May 23, 2007. Water and sanitary sewer service extensions were completed in September 2006, including a water line extension which improves service to existing COATC tenants. A roadway project to connect James Parkway up with Kaiser Drive began in August 2006. The project opened to traffic following an informal ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, May 23. The roadway portion was partly funded from a $500,000 grant through the Ohio Department of Development.

A ribbon cutting ceremony attended by business, City of Heath, and Port Authority officials was held on May 23, 2007 to make the occasion of the opening of the roadway portion of the project. Fittingly, the first truck using the new roadway occurred 30 seconds after the ceremony to make a delivery to Samuel Manu-Tech. See a video clip from the ribbon cutting at Base TV.
